To my surprise, I saw a link to the University of Leicester's website which at one point of time I was so familiar with. :) When I clicked on the link, I came to this writeup about me, the writeup was in the main University's site under the tab News & Events, dated May 14, 2010. Leicester graduates in the news: Khoo Kien Ling
Electrical engineering graduate becomes successful wedding planner.
It’s a long way from Leicester to Malaysia but it’s even further from ‘Molecular dynamics simulation of high frequency dielectric absorption in hollandite' … to wedding planning.
In the early 2000s, Khoo Kien Ling was a PhD student in our Department of Engineering, developing computer models of the fluid behaviour of ions inside hollandite, a family of crystals principally composed of barium and oxygen. (The old Engineering website still has a page on Dr Khoo’s work including a movable 3-D model of a hollandite molecule that you can play with.)
But as an interview in interview in leading Malaysian paper the New Straits Times reveals, Kien Ling is now one of the country’s top wedding planners, to the extent that she has set up a school to teach other people how to become wedding planners. Her company is called Adamas Weddings (from the Greek word for ‘diamond’) ... more
