Day 2 (part 1) - Event Solutions Conference & Tradeshow 2010

The conference started again at 7:30am, that’s the fun of attending this conference, finished late night and started early in the morning, I could now understand why they choose Las Vegas to be the venue for this conference. Attended the seminar at 9am on "SOCIALIZE WITH A PURPOSE: BUILDING A SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGY FOR SUCCESS". This seminar was given by Lara McCulloch-Carter. She gave us lots of tips on optimizing the response on social media, facebook, lindken, twitter and blog. She also taught us on the few tools to be used in conjunction with the social media such as Google Read Me, Twitter Event Social and many more.

At 10:30am, a seminar given by Branden Chapman (The Recording Academy & GRAMMY Awards) on “Experiential Events… Pushing Beyond Four WallS”. The importance of multimedia, all the new technique they used to get the people to interact and response. Connection is very important, either the online connection or the in store connection. He also showed us their advertisements on video clips. He ended his seminar by saying, CHANGE YOUR THINKING, Push beyond Four Walls!!!

Before heading to the tradeshow, I went for lunch at Ichiban. They served very good Sashimi at a reasonable price. Their serving of Soba was huge.

The Tradeshow started at 12noon today , took the free shuttle to the Las Vegas Convention Center. Next to the Hilton hotel, the tradeshow was held there last year too. Was really excited to see whats new this year. I tried on the flip book, where you would have to do silly thing for about 7s, it will be printed into a series of pictures and stapled together, when you flip the book fast enough you will see me doing those silly things in action. Is like how they create animation in the olden days. It was really fun. I tried the photo booth, where it could easily fit 20 pax. A huge Photo Booth, took 4 of my photos with different post and within few seconds my photos were printed. Each of the photos could be developed up to A4 size later. It will be stored on the internet for a certain period of time. I wish we could have all this in Malaysia. So much to learn.

Those plastic plates looks exactly like crystal/ ceramic/ glass plates, you will not be able to tell without touching them. The Liquid Nitrogen was used to freeze the the ice-cream, sorbet, fruits. I tried all three, the most interesting was the frozen Raspberry, whereby when I put it into my mouth, I could see smoke coming out from my mouth and nose, this was really cool. Never seen this before. Backdrops, lighted boxes & lighting was great as well, I remembered seeing a portable plate holder, it could easily holds 40 plates with food securely, this was used by off-site caterer.
