Karaoke Session + Meeting for our Inaugural Graduation of ADAMAS School of Weddings
My philosophy is always Play Hard and Work Hard.
Why do I place the word "Play" in front of "Work" may be some of you would ask... well.... the reason is...
You should enjoy your work, when you are enjoying your work so much that it is just like having fun. Congratulations to you!!! You will not get tired when you are are "working", at the same time you are actually Working Hard without even noticing it. Isn't it nice...
The best thing in life - is to find a job that you enjoy doing !!!

Most of the committee members also had the chance to visit the haunted house at Time Square constructed by MD Events. They might be our vendor for sound, light & decor for our graduation if their quotation is within our budget. Our Theme for the graduation is Magical + Dreams inspired by Harry Potter, Northern Light and Magic, we will reveal more nearer to the date.
Just like Weddings,
its always someone's Dreams or Magical to others.

Wedding of Linda & Daniel - The Wedding of The Year @ 12 Sept 2010
I was honored to be able to plan Linda and Daniel's Wedding, They got my contact from the hotel and they called me when I was abroad, so I asked my assistant Sylvia to return her call. According to Linda, I was the most expensive planner that she contacted so far, but was lucky enough to be her final selection. I was glad that I was able to impress her and I did explain to her that we do not take commission from vendors, all the "commission" would be converted to discount for them, hence our fees are slightly higher :)
The planning took about 3 months after they engaged us, not a lot of time left, we have to come up with a proposal for them. The initial theme was High Fashion + Fairytale, Channel & Hello Kitty inspired. After about 1 month, we decided to change to a new theme, the time is running and we have to act fast. The new theme - Chinoiserie. French term describing European interpretation of Chinese Style from the 17th and 18th centuries, reflects China's influence as a world power and Westerners' fascination with the country. This theme was definitely a better choice and at least I personally feel that it was more suitable for them.
After the theme was finalised, we have to source for various vendors. This is where Gown (Designer Bridal Room), florist (Garden of Senses), lighting (Vibrant Productions), photographer (The Photoz), videographer (Filming Art), makeup artist (Geraldine Loh), entertainer (Joanne-solo performance & Mosaic - Liveband), emcee (Chui Ling), cake (delectable), Guest house (Terasek Brickhouse) etc came in. We have to start to liase with them on the theme and make sure that everything runs accordingly.
Time flies, it was Linda and Daniel's Big Day, the morning ceremony went very well, all the 9 bridesmaid wore pink, and the 9 groomsmen wore red Chinese top. "Torturing" games were designed by the bridesmaid lasted about an hour, this included asking 1 of the groomsman to enter the pool to get the key to open the glass door. The ceremony ends at about 1pm at Daniel's place.
The wedding reception was held at Hilton Kuala Lumpur, the reception started 1/2 hour later than what we scheduled, which is quite normal for a Chinese Wedding. I was pleased to received a lot of compliments on the lighting. decor, sound system and the whole coordination. Most importantly, both Linda and Daniel enjoyed the wedding and appreciated our service. :) They are now my friends rather than just client. Human being is just weird, do not mind giving more if he/she enjoyed or happy doing it hahaha.... if you know what I mean. :)
| Photo stand at the entrance. |
| Photo taken by us which is not professional as you can see, will upload the photos from The Photoz soon. |

Up the Ante – Irfan Khairi & Kien Ling from Adamas Weddings
Today I had an interview with Freda Liu from BFM 89.9 The Business Station, this is a pre-recorded session. "Up the Ante" or back to our show they called it. In this session, they usually invite previous guests to talk about the business. They are interested in our business development and wonder if there is one particular field we would like to improve on, they offer us to be paired up with a business consultant who will advice us on this particular issue (HR? Ad and Promo? Internet Marketing?).
In this session, they paired us with Irfan Khairi - A True internet Business Expert. He became a Malaysian Ringgit millionaire at the age of 25. He gave a lot of tips on how to use the social media to increase the number of fan and in return increase the business' sales. I would not want to say much here, lets wait till Monday (13 Sept 2010) for the 10 am, Up the Ante!

I will post the podcast in the blog once I have it.

Writeup in University of Leicester's News & events
Today I randomly google on the phrase "ADAMAS Weddings", guess what I have found?
To my surprise, I saw a link to the University of Leicester's website which at one point of time I was so familiar with. :) When I clicked on the link, I came to this writeup about me, the writeup was in the main University's site under the tab News & Events, dated May 14, 2010. Below is just part of the writeup more can be read here.

Leicester graduates in the news: Khoo Kien Ling
Electrical engineering graduate becomes successful wedding planner.
It’s a long way from Leicester to Malaysia but it’s even further from ‘Molecular dynamics simulation of high frequency dielectric absorption in hollandite' … to wedding planning.
In the early 2000s, Khoo Kien Ling was a PhD student in our Department of Engineering, developing computer models of the fluid behaviour of ions inside hollandite, a family of crystals principally composed of barium and oxygen. (The old Engineering website still has a page on Dr Khoo’s work including a movable 3-D model of a hollandite molecule that you can play with.)
But as an interview in interview in leading Malaysian paper the New Straits Times reveals, Kien Ling is now one of the country’s top wedding planners, to the extent that she has set up a school to teach other people how to become wedding planners. Her company is called Adamas Weddings (from the Greek word for ‘diamond’) ... more

Oil on Canvas Solo Exhibition by June-Yapyudan
Today I went to attend June-Yapyudan's Oil on Canvas Solo Exhibition with my cousin Karen, it was indeed and interesting afternoon. Was a pity that we did not manage to take photo with her today as it was her opening when we arrived, we would not want to hold her back for too long. She was a very nice and talented lady, just to mentioned a few, she won international dance competition, she do floral arrangement and demonstrated in China, not too long ago she started oil painting, recently she picked up photography. Went to her house few months back and she was so sweet to show us her collections of painting, photography collection, she also signed on her books given to us. Was so honored to have 2 books with her signature. :)

Karaoke Session - After the final exam for the students of 4th Intake
Another fun hangout with the students from the 4th Intake Priscilla & Adnes, it was a pity that Tang and Sarah could not make it. It was very nice of Edmund to join the session. We celebrated Priscilla's Birthday with a champagne as well that night. :) This time we had a room on the same floor as the buffet, in fact the buffet line was just outside our door. :)

My favourite Design - Coffee Art
Latte art or I called it coffee art developed independently in different countries, following the introduction of espresso and the development of microform, the combination of crema and microfoam allowing the pattern; it presumably was initially developed in Italy.
It does make a lot of different when your coffee or latte being served with a beautiful design isn't it?

Adnes's Birthday Celebration at El Cerdo + Cake Cutting
All about Pork+People+Fun+a little Crazy...
I was honored to have the opportunity to chop the piglet with plate and smash the plates in the wooden bucket provided with the Birthday Gal. It was believe that you have to make a wish, hold the plate with 2 fingers on each hand, drop the plate into the bucket provided if the plate break into pieces, your dream will come true. It was fun isn't it?
This was taken in the class after the making of bridal bouquet session, Adnes was born in the year of pig, and here you go.... :)
Our honour to have Sin Chew Daily's reporter at our Practical Session - Making of Bridal Bouquet
Making of Bridal Bouquet - one of the inclusive Practical Session for our WB Certification Program for Wedding Planners.
We were honoured to have reporter from Sin Chew Daily to cover this practical session for the 4th intake -which is also the first Chinese Intake. The session took about 4 hrs to complete, the students had the opportunity to learn how to make a bridal bouquet, corsage, and a wrist corsage. The reason behind was in case of emergency, the students will know how to fix a bridal bouquet, even when there is a shortage of corsage, they can make one immediately. Of coz green tape, wire & safety pin are part of the items in ADAMAS Emergency Kit that they have to carry with them when coordinating a wedding.

F&B Trade Fair @ PWTC
Attended the 11th Malaysia International Food & Beverage Trade Fair at PWTC. It was divided into different sections with F&B from different countries such as Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, Turkey etc
I was quite disappointed, expected something more interesting, more unusual type of food etc. What caught my eye were the Twin Tower made from rice and the tower besides it made from yam. At the Malaysian section, fruits were used for decor. The figuring made or stacked up using flower pot of different sizes was quite cute as well :).

International LED Expo & OLED Expo 2010 @ South Korea (22-25 June 2010)
Attended the International LED Expo and OLED Expo 2010 @ South Korea. It was indeed an eye opening event for me, attended the seminar on Day 1, learnt some fundamental of LED operation, properties and etc. There is actually no global standard for LED, Korea just recently started Korean Standard (KS), according to the LED manufacturer it was even harder to obtain compared to CE.
Here are some photos taken at the exhibition. :) Solar powered LED street lamp, some even come with a wind turbine, it is sort of a 2 in 1 street lamp. The LED dance floor was nice, as it changes in colour.

Interviews with Sin Chew Jit Poh (星洲日報) and BFM 89.9 The Business Station
Today was my busy day, interview with Sin Chew Jit Poh (星洲日報) that lasted nearly 2.5 hours in the morning. It was an interesting "discussion", as I have shared a lot of my experience both on wedding planning and WBMS course that I am currently offering with Kha Mun - the reporter. She will also be sitting in one of our practical session on Making of Bridal Bouquet, looking forward to her write up.
In the afternoon, I had another interview with Freda Liu from BFM 89.9 The Business Station, this is a pre-recorded session. "Up the Ante" or back to our show they called it. Sarah's 21st Birthday Bash @16 June 2010
Sarah's 21st Birthday Bash in a Karaoke at the One Utama. The Cup Cakes was specially designed and made by Tang, nice to look at and yummy when you eat :) I do not have the close-up photos of the cakes here, it was so nicely done, there are little flowers and butterflies sitting on the cakes.
It was indeed an enjoyable night... I am sure Sarah had a good time. This again was a gathering initiated by all in the 4th intakes... Thats the way.... keep it up :)
